Renault Clio (12 - present)

We Irish all remember the Clio from the Papa and Nicole TV advertisement but this car has moved on a lot since then. The name seems to have been around forever and you see a lot of older models still on the road. It has sold more than 12 million globally since its initial release. It has always been fashionable, vibrant and affordable. This latest version is no different but they have made major improvements. There is a new front grille and the general shape of the car is curvier. There are sculpted headlights and contoured door panels and skirting. People like it because while it is smart it is also one of the more practical small cars on the market. For its size, there’s plenty of space in the cabin and there is a decent sized boot. The interior is smart and – as the French would say - chic. There’s plenty of scope for personalisation. For example you can customise the colour of some of the trim along the doors and dashboard, as well as the steering wheel and even part of the seat covers. The Clio has some fine petrol engines which are frugal, powerful but greener than ever. And there is a wonderful diesel.
